Prohibited Items & Listing Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026 (draft)

RigYard is for buying and selling complete computers: gaming PCs, custom builds, prebuilt desktops, workstations, laptops, mini PCs and all-in-ones. This policy sets out what can't be listed and the standards every listing must meet. We remove listings that break it, and repeated or serious breaches can lead to a suspension or ban.

1. Prohibited items

  • Stolen goods, or anything you don't have the right to sell (including items still on finance or owned by an employer).
  • Counterfeit or replica items, or items with faked branding, serial numbers or specifications.
  • Pirated or unlicensed software, cracked software, "activated" copies of Windows or Office without a valid licence, and licence keys sold on their own.
  • Devices that still contain other people's personal data. Wipe drives before selling.
  • Items designed for illegal activity, such as hacking tools, devices for bypassing security, or equipment for unlicensed broadcasting.
  • Recalled or unsafe items, including swollen or damaged batteries and power supplies that have been tampered with.
  • Weapons, drugs, adult content, or anything else illegal to sell in the UK.
  • Things that aren't computers in the categories we offer, such as individual components (for now), phones, consoles or services.

2. Listing standards

  • One computer per listing. Don't list the same item more than once.
  • Use photos of the actual item, taken by you. Don't use stock or manufacturer images, or other people's photos.
  • Describe the specifications and condition accurately, including any faults. "For parts / not working" items must say what's wrong.
  • Give the real price you want. No placeholder prices such as £1, and no bait-and-switch.
  • Keep contact details, links to other websites and requests for payment outside RigYard out of listings.
  • If you're selling as a business, say so when you set up your account (see Seller Obligations).

3. How we enforce it

We use automatic checks (for example for banned words, photos copied from other listings, and prices far below the value of the parts), member reports and manual review. Listings may be held until a moderator has checked them. If we remove your listing, we'll tell you why, and you can appeal. See our Reporting & Content Moderation Policy.

If you think an item may be stolen, report the listing. If you have a crime reference number, include it, or email safety@rigyard.example.
