Cookie Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026 (draft)
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies (such as browser storage) work the same way and are covered here too. This policy explains what RigYard uses and the choices you have, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Your cookie preferences
You haven't made a choice yet, so only essential cookies are used.
Essential cookies (always on)
These are needed for the site to work and don't need your consent.
| Name | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| ry.session_token (and related ry.* cookies) | Keeps you signed in and protects your account | Up to 30 days |
| cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie choices | 6 months |
| beta_banner_dismissed | Remembers that you closed the beta notice | 90 days |
| theme (browser storage) | Remembers light or dark mode if you choose one | Until you clear it |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Bot protection on sign-up and sign-in forms (set by Cloudflare) | Session |
| Stripe Checkout | Fraud prevention while you pay a listing fee (set by Stripe on its checkout page) | Up to 1 year |
We count listing views without cookies: repeat views are recognised using a salted, daily-changing code that's deleted after 24 hours.
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If you allow them, we use [ANALYTICS PROVIDER, e.g. Plausible or PostHog] to understand which pages are used and where people get stuck. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you say no, analytics are never loaded. If you change your mind later, we stop analytics and delete its cookies.
Third-party content
If you click "Show approximate area" on a listing, map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap. That doesn't set cookies, but OpenStreetMap will see your IP address.
